Tadhg loves lollies!

Recently Tadhg has discovered the world of lollipops and he was very quickly converted to a fan. Luckily mom found some relatively healthy ones at a local organic food shop so mom and dad don't feel too bad giving them to him. Tadhg loves to crunch them so it is common to hear a loud craaaccckkk as sticky goo runs down his face and fingers!

Tadhg is back at the playground

The weather has finally started to warm up so Tadhg decided it was time to revisit one of his favourite playgrounds at Riegrovy Sady. One of Tadhg's old friends Maya was in town, so the two toddlers (and parents) met up at the playground.

It was great to meet Maya and her family again. They used to live in Prague last year but had moved back home to the UK. Tadhg enjoyed showing the slightly younger Maya the way around, and the two families ended the play date with a meal in the family friendly Red Flower restaurant.

Tadhg has an accident

Mom got a big shock on Tuesday when she went to pick up Tadhg from school as normal and saw him come out of the class with a big bruise and graze over his left eye. Mom learned from the teacher that Tadhg had fallen off a bike in the school yard and Tadhg confirmed, with sound effects, that he had fallen off a bike.

Mom was worried so called dad and they all went to Tadhg's doctor to get the bruise checked out. The doctor advised them to go to a local hospital for a consultation so the whole family took the bus to Motol hospital and waited to see a surgeon. The surgeon poked around Tadhg's eye and when there was no pain, told the relieved parents that there was nothing broken and the little trooper should heal fine. He did advise that Tadhg was watched every couple of hours so mom and dad spent the night waking Tadhg up to make sure he was ok!

Tadhg quickly developed a scab over the graze and looks a bit of a bruiser with his swollen eye. Mom and dad were relieved to get the all clear and make it through Tadhg's first almost serious accident.

Tadhg visits a train restaurant

Mom and dad were sad when one of their favourite restaurants in Prague, Pizza Marzano, closed down at the end of 2009. However as proof that every cloud has a silver lining, a new restaurant recently opened in the same premises and it has quickly proved to be Tadhg's favourite restaurant! The new restaurant is called Vytopna and is a train themed restaurant so much so that there are train tracks on every table. When you order drinks, trains carry drinks from the bar along the extensive train network and deliver them to your table!

Tadhg was amazed on his first visit and was so intent on pointing out the trains that he forgot to eat his lunch. Mom and dad like the restaurant too so it has become a regular location for weekend lunch/dinner. On this Saturday, Tadhg met up with his friend Adam and his parents for lunch. Tadhg enjoyed pointing out all the trains to young Adam.

After the meal Tadhg wandered over to the play area and challenged dad to a game of pool. Tadhg already has a the pool grip of a seasoned pro!

Tadhg celebrates Saint Patrick's day

Tadhg celebrated Saint Patrick's day on Wednesday. It was his third Saint Patrick's day and his second in Prague where it is not really celebrated outside of Irish homes and pubs. Tadhg's mom made some special Saint Patrick's day cookies on Tuesday night and Tadhg brought them into school on Wednesday morning to share with his teacher and class mates. The cookies were so popular that Tadhg's mom was asked for the recipe!

Tadhg's Irish grandparents sent a care pack with some Patrick's day goodies and Tadhg wore his new green t-shirt and Ireland fleece. He enjoyed pointing out the leprechaun on his t-shirt.

Tadhg, mom and dad went to an Irish bar for dinner and met a group of Irish girls wearing green tops and big hats. Tadhg was fascinated by them and kept pointing at the 'leprechauns'. Tadhg enjoyed sitting at the bar with daddy and was far too excited to sit still and eat his dinner. He was much happier dancing around the table!

After a busy Saint Patrick's day, Tadhg was happy to settle into bed with his blue bear. When Tadhg was asleep, Mom and dad shared a beer and had a quieter than usual celebration of Ireland's national holiday.

Tadhg learns to cook

Tadhg loves to get involved in any kitchen related activity especially if it involves squishy messiness! On Tuesday Tadhg helped mom mix flour, butter, sugar, etc. for making Saint Patrick's Day cookies. Mom and dad spent the evening decorating the cookies with some green glaze so Tadhg can bring them into school tomorrow to celebrate the Irish national holiday.

Tadhg the pirate!

Tadhg got a pirate kit as part of his Peter Pan Halloween outfit last year. Recently he dug his jolly roger eye patch out from the bottom of his toy box and enjoys stomping around the house saying "Ah har matey!".

Tadhg loves his wellies and rain mac

Prague experienced a brief respite from winter's cold grip last week with the temperatures exceeding +10C. Unfortunately, temperatures started dropping during the week and on Saturday morning, Tadhg woke up to find the city covered in a blanket of snow once again.

Despite the wintry weather, Tadhg decided to try out his dinosaur wellington boots and rain mac which his Auntie Angela gave him for Christmas 2008. The wellies are still a bit big but the mac is a good fit and Tadhg enjoyed modelling his rain outfit for mom and dad. Tadhg is definitely ready for rain showers.
