Tadhg gets a tummy bug

Tadhg, mom and dad had planned a trip to Ireland for the last weekend in January so Tadhg could see his Irish family for the first time in 2010. On the Wednesday night before the trip, Tadhg began throwing up over night but seemed better in the morning so went to school as normal. Soon after Tadhg was dropped off at school, the teacher called to say he had thrown up, so mom rushed down to pick him up. After a visit to the doctor, Tadhg was diagnosed with a tummy bug and it would take 5 days for Tadhg to recover.

Mom and dad made the difficult decision to cancel their trip to Ireland. It was sad that Tadhg would miss seeing his Irish family, but he needed a lot of R&R to get over his bug. Tadhg, mom and dad spent the weekend relaxing at home where Tadhg received lot's of TLC.

Tadhg and the iPod

Tadhg's dad bought himself a new iPod touch when in Canada for Christmas. Tadhg has become a big fan of the iPod since realising that he can watch his favourite YouTube videos on it. Tadhg and dad like to snuggle up and watch some Sesame Street or Cars.

Tadhg is bound to be a technology whizz kid with the amount of exposure he gets to new technology.

Tadhg's racing car PJs

One of Tadhg's favourite cartoons is Cars, and his favourite character is Lightning McQueen. Tadhg received a Christmas present of a pair of Lightning McQueen pyjamas but mom and dad had left it behind when they packed up for leaving Canada. So Tadhg was thrilled to get the pjs in the care package his baba sent from Canada.

Tadhg looked ready for the big race as he got ready for bed in his new pyjamas. Tadhg finished his day watching Cars in his Cars pyjamas before going to bed.

Tadhg's gets some post

On Tuesday Tadhg was very excited to receive a package from Canada. Tadhg loves getting post and especially likes opening them to see what's inside. This package was from his baba in Canada and was stuffed with goodies - a Winnie the pooh book, a Buzz Lightyear toy to replace the lost Buzz and lot's of clothes which mom and dad forgot to pack when they left Canada after Christmas.

Tadhg had a great time with all his toys and was delighted to show them to his baba when she called on the webcam. Tadhg proclaimed "Buzz is back" for a few days afterwards.

Tadhg helps take down the Christmas decorations

Tadhg's mom and dad had delayed taking down their limited Christmas decorations but decided on Sunday that the time had come to take them down. Tadhg was a great "help" and loved going through all the Christmas cards again and helping dad put away the star lights. Tadhg's favourite decorations were the Christmas stockings which he put on his feet and ran around the apartment in!

Tadhg's tower

Tadhg loves Saturday mornings as it's the start of the weekend and he gets to spend all day with mom and dad. This Saturday morning Tadhg was happily playing by himself at his table and mom and dad were busy in the kitchen. After a period of quiet from Tadhg (which usually means trouble!) Tadhg came running in to show mom and dad the tower he had made!

Mom and dad were very impressed that Tadhg made a tower from his blocks all by himself and took a photo for posterity.

Tadhg's first snowman!

Temperatures stayed sub-zero and the snow started coming down over the last week. Everyone had to wrap up warm before going out and Tadhg's walk to school each morning turned treacherous with the risk of slipping on ice or having some ice blocks fall on your head!

On Saturday morning, Tadhg and dad wrapped up well and wandered down to the garden to play in the snow. Tadhg wanted to make a snowman so Tadhg and dad tried to gather the newly fallen snow together into some semblance of a snowman.

They managed to create a vaguely human shape from the flaky snow but the face didn't turn out so well. Tadhg called it "mean snowman". They had another go and made a "happy snowman" which looked a bit more respectable. By this time both Tadhg and dad were starting to freeze so they went upstairs to have a warm lunch with mom.

Tadhg plays hockey

Tadhg's hockey mad cousins Nicholas and Luka gave Tadhg a special Syndey Crosby hockey stick when he was in Canada. Tadhg was dying to try it out so dad pulled out his floorball stick and Tadhg and dad had a 1-1 hockey game between the kitchen and the living room. Tadhg loved honing his hockey skills and was especially keen on the fighting!

Tadhg has quickly settled back into Prague life and is happy to have all of his stuff around.

Tadhg flies home

After a great Christmas and New Year's Eve vacation in Canada, Tadhg, mom and dad flew home on New Year's day. Tadhg was a great traveler as always and enjoyed looking at the planes while having an early breakfast in Frankfurt airport.

Everyone was very tired when they eventually got home and were very happy to be back in their own place. Tadhg was excited to be able to play with his toys, read his books, and eventually sleep in his bed. Mom and dad were happy to be able to finally get some rest after a long journey.
